The Scent of Lichen

They are the beautiful splashes of colour you can see on rocks by the beach, the forest floor and on trees but did you know that about 6% of the Earth's land surface is covered by lichen and that there are about 20000 known species?

Lichens occur from sea level to mountain ranges and they can grow on almost any surface. You will find them on bark, leaves and mosses, rock, walls, gravestones, roofs, exposed soil surfaces, and in the soil itself. Which is why Alix was so driven to create a fragrance that celebrated this colourful aspect of the Irish field.
Our Lichen candle has a green, herbal fragrance. It contains 9 essential oils - bay, clove, eucalyptus, ginger, lavandin, orange, patchouli, rosemary and thyme, so there are fruity notes in it too. It really is the most compelling and unusual fragrance.
The candle comes in a smokey glass jar within a stunning embossed box, illustrated with a line drawing of the patchwork of fields surrounding the Field Apothecary factory.
Each Field Apothecary candle is 190g, with 30cl of wax, giving approximately 45 hours burn time.
Available online on this link and in selected stockists in Ireland, the US and the UK.
